christmas is THE festive season of the year, when everyone is just happy and jovial, ready to give presents and spread the cheer. in spite of the gloomy outlook in the economy and all that trivial little things.
it is also a time of reflection, when we gather together in our comfortable groups and loved ones, enjoying each other's presence and talking about our lives and catching up. sharing what was lost and found, and the many experiences that the year had brought.
2008 has been a crazy year for me, much work and learning, traveling solo and with the sister in the US, going ChiangMai twice and experiencing farm work, starting school, entering a new relationship, the blessings of camp. 3/4 of it i didn't expect when the year started, all of it with a long story to tell.
had tea with marvin and mabel today, and was just reminded about how much i enjoy and respect the simple things in life, and though we wish we could just have that little bit more at times, we are, and should be happy with what we have.
to do: reflections on 2008, hopes for 2009.
have you done yours?
luke 6:27-30 (esv)
do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you,
pray for those who abuse you.
to one who strikes you on the cheek,
offer the other also,
and from one who takes away your cloak do not withold your tunic either.
give to everyone who begs from you,
and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.
how tall an order this is. how tall it is.
